Bloom's taxonomy is a hierarchy of thinking skills that build from knowledge to evaluation. Keep these categories in mind as you develop questions to analyze texts. As you do, you continue to develop your "higher level thinking muscles!"

Knowledge: The recall of specific information.
Comprehension: An understanding of what was read.
Application: The connecting of abstract content to concrete applications.
Analysis: The breaking down of what was read into parts and understanding their relationship to the whole.
Synthesis: The organization of thoughts or ideas from two or more separate sources.
Evaluation: The judgment and evaluation fo characters, actions, outcomes, etc. for personal reflection and understanding.
